What is The Society of St. Vincent de Paul?

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul has been helping Long Islanders for over 70 years in many ways; no charity work is foreign to the society.

We provide financial and material assistance and emotional and spiritual comfort to help people facing all sorts of challenges. Although affiliated with the Catholic Church, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul helps anyone in need, regardless of race, religion, age, or citizenship status.

Home Visits With The Society of St. Vincent de Paul

When someone in need reaches out to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul for help, a home visit with two of our compassionate, trained Vincentian volunteers will be scheduled.

The Importance of Home Visits

At the Society, we offer those who need our assistance home visits to gather information in the privacy and comfort of their own homes. This practice exemplifies our Vincentians’ commitment, as they always strive to demonstrate the utmost respect and understanding to the people we serve. Meeting people where they are allows for the building of a relationship of trust between the Vincentians and the neighbor. This trust helps the neighbor to share more openly and understand the Vincentians are there to help not judge.

What to Expect During a Home Visit

Our home visits are simple; we’re there to listen, comfort, and help. Whether you are asking for assistance in paying the utilities, are in need of food for the dinner table, or would like emotional support and guidance, our Vincentians are there. We will listen carefully and gather the needed information to learn how we can best assist you.
