The 4th Week of Easter
No Problem Bickering
Do not let your hearts be troubled. You have faith in God; have faith also in me.
John 14:1
Jesus encourages us to allow our hearts to be free of anxiety. I appreciate the sentiment, but if I am honest, I can admit that I want to talk back. I want to object and assume that Jesus’ words don’t apply to my context; fear and suffering are intense, and the Good News seems scarce some days. And then I realize: The reason I feel safe enough to object to Jesus’ message is because I love him like my brother. For some reason, I have no problem bickering with my family, with those I love most. It turns out that Christ does know this era in history. Christ knows me and my troubles. He is urging me to trust him because he is close, helping me, holding me, tending to me like family.
Jesus, you help us belong to the family of God. Help us to trust in you.

No hay problema en discutir
No deje que se angustien. Tienes fe en Dios; tened fe también en mí.
Juan 14:1
Jesús nos anima a permitir que nuestros corazones estén libres de ansiedad. Aprecio el sentimiento, pero si soy honesto, puedo admitir que quiero responder. Quiero objetar y asumir que las palabras de Jesús no se aplican a mi contexto; el miedo y el sufrimiento son intensos, y la Buena Nueva parece escasa algunos días. Y entonces me doy cuenta: la razón por la que me siento lo suficientemente seguro como para oponerme al mensaje de Jesús es porque lo amo como a mi hermano. Por alguna razón, no tengo ningún problema en discutir con mi familia, con quienes más amo. Resulta que Cristo sí conoce esta era de la historia. Cristo me conoce a mí y a mis problemas. Me insta a confiar en él porque está cerca, ayudándome, abrazándome y cuidándome como a una familia.
Jesús, tú nos ayudas a pertenecer a la familia de Dios. Ayúdanos a confiar en ti.
