What We Worship
What therefore you unknowingly worship, I proclaim to you.
Acts 17:23
Fate, The Universe, Karma, Kismet and the like often get more attention than God—except when he’s being profaned. Aside from Church, what positives do we hear about God? He’s often shut out of lives, reduced to some magic genie who’s only relevant when he grants wishes.
Yet, consciously or unconsciously, we search for meaning in life: why we’re here, where we’re going, what we do with suffering? Whether we think ourselves the captains of our own ships or acknowledge the one who gave us life, we all focus attention somewhere.
Today, we hear Saint Paul daring to tell the Athenians of a God bigger than it all. Let’s not be silenced by our seemingly-filled-but-empty culture. This world still needs the One who made us all.
Please, Lord, help us to see and to share that you, who give us life and breath and everything, are not far from any of us.

Lo que adoramos
Por tanto, lo que adoráis sin saberlo, os lo proclamo.
Hechos 17:23
El destino, el universo, el karma, Kismet y cosas similares a menudo reciben más atención que Dios, excepto cuando lo profanan. Aparte de la Iglesia, ¿qué aspectos positivos escuchamos acerca de Dios? A menudo lo excluyen de las vidas, lo reducen a un genio mágico que solo es relevante cuando concede deseos.
Sin embargo, consciente o inconscientemente, buscamos significado a la vida: ¿por qué estamos aquí, hacia dónde vamos, qué hacemos con el sufrimiento? Ya sea que nos creamos capitanes de nuestros propios barcos o reconozcamos a quien nos dio la vida, todos centramos la atención en alguna parte.
Hoy escuchamos a San Pablo atreverse a hablar a los atenienses de un Dios más grande que todo. No nos dejemos silenciar por nuestra cultura aparentemente llena pero vacía. Este mundo todavía necesita a Aquel que nos hizo a todos.
Por favor, Señor, ayúdanos a ver y compartir que Tú, que nos das vida y aliento y todo, no estás lejos de ninguno de nosotros.
